Insurance Questionnaire
This is an extract from the winter 2007 edition of ADVANCE, our group magazine (this
is available from this site in the News section -
Some time ago, Tommy Jardine, our President, suggested that we explore whether, on passing the IAM’s Advanced Driving Test, young people may be eligible for cheaper insurance, rather like Pass Plus, where the British insurance industries provide a 25% reduction in premiums. The reason for Tommy making this proposal was an attempt to motivate young people to continue to take up the IAM’s Skill for Life programme even if the Group is unable to attract sufficient funds to sponsor them free of charge in the future.
It was encouraging therefore to read in the IAM’s Advanced Driving magazine that the IAM have launched a new insurance company, IAM Surety, in conjunction with Adelaide Insurance. The claim, based on quotations provided by Adelaide to IAM Members in Northern Ireland, is that it will give a better deal for advanced drivers in 9 out of 10 cases. This announcement has given great hope that young IAM Members will benefit from this announcement. In order to monitor the effectiveness of the scheme, so that we can say to prospective members that as well as becoming a safer, better driver, that insurance premiums will fall too, we need to keep a record of individual’s experience in seeking insurance renewals.
What I would like to request is that all our Members, young and old, ask IAM Surety
for a quote and compare this with alternative quotations. If you let us have the
comparison we can build up our records so that we can speak with confidence when
questioned. You will shortly find a questionnaire on our web site where you can complete
the details of your insurance costs. If you prefer you can download the questionnaire
form and post or e-
This is a confidential survey so we don’t ask you for your name and address. The output of the exercise will hopefully show that advanced drivers benefit, not only by gaining greater enjoyment from being safer and more skilful, but also in the pocket! A later edition of the magazine will share the findings with you.
Please complete the survey and then use the ‘Submit’ button so we can correlate the findings. Thank you.
