Whether you are a newly qualified driver/rider or have many years experience would you like to improve your driving/riding skills, be safer on the road and reduce your chances of having an accident? Maybe you would like your driving/riding to be more relaxed and enjoyable with improved skills so that you can confidently handle the large variety of situations that you come across on the road. These are just a few reasons why you should consider getting some guidance in advanced driving or advanced riding.

Dumfries & Galloway Group Of Advanced Motorists and Motorcyclists exists to promote road safety and improvement of driving standards to motorists/motorcyclists of all ages by the provision of driving/ riding courses.

We offer an Associate Membership Scheme through which an Associate Member can receive guidance to enable them to become a better driver/rider. By the end the Associate should be able to take, and pass, the Institute Of Advanced Motorists’ Advanced Driving/Motorcycling Test. Dumfries Group supports preparation for both the Advanced Car and Motorcycle Tests.  Restrictions may apply to drivers with 8 or more penalty points (3 points if a new driver).

We also meet socially every month between September and June on the second Monday of each month.  Meetings are held in the Dalston House Hotel, Laurieknowe, Dumfries, or at a pre-arranged venue elsewhere.

Interested? Just have a look through our site to find more details of how you can benefit from advanced driver or rider training.

New members are always welcome, just head for the Contact Us page for details of how you can get in contact. In case you are wondering there is hardly a cloth cap in sight, the Group encourages participation not only from from young and old but from the  less experienced through to the more experienced. We recognise that greater skills in driving and riding lead to more enjoyment as well as increased safety.

The Dumfries Group is affiliated to the Institute of Advanced Motorists and is a charity registered in Scotland (No. SC 023511).

Go to the standard site home page if you want to sign up for a “Skill For Life” course on-line.
